Prof. Shalini Varma’s Research Students Present at SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference 2025

Students from Prof. Shalini Varma’s undergraduate research course showcased their scientific investigations at the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) 2025, held on April 28 at SUNY Binghamton.

Their poster presentations explored urgent ecological and public health topics tied to the Hudson River ecosystem:

“Investigating Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Hudson River Water Samples: Implications for Environmental Health”
“Molecular Detection of Invasive Species in the Hudson River Using DNA Barcoding”

These projects reflect the students’ dedication to scientific research and their contributions to the growing body of knowledge surrounding local environmental challenges. The SURC event brought together students from across the SUNY system, offering a platform for interdisciplinary scholarship and collaboration.
